Leading Travel Websites
About Kayak Wabsite
More: Team, Technology, Jobs, Suppliers, Investors
We’re a tech company focused on making online travel better.
Cofounders of Expedia, Travelocity and Orbitz started KAYAK in 2004 to take a different approach.
Our website and mobile apps enable you to easily compare hundreds of travel sites at once, in one comprehensive, fast and intuitive display. If you want to spend hours searching every airline, hotel and other travel site yourself, that’s one option. If you’d prefer an easier way to find a good deal, we can help.
Once you find what you want, we give you choices where to book (most travel sites do not), including airline, hotel, car rental and online travel agency sites. We’ll send you right to the booking page to finish your purchase there. You can also book your hotel right on KAYAK with our fast, easy and secure booking process.
We also offer travel management tools including an itinerary management tool, flight status updates and price alerts. We make money from advertising, so just like you can watch (most) TV shows for free, you can use KAYAK all you want, free (and no, we don’t add any fees).
Our free mobile app is available on iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Phone 7, and Nokia, and we have local KAYAK sites in fourteen countries.
Please give us a try. If you already use KAYAK and just enjoy reading corporate material, then please tell your friends to try us too.

More Travel Information to the Grand Canyon
Nearly five million people see Grand Canyon each year. Most of them see it from overlooks along the South Rim, including Grand Canyon Village, Hermits Rest Road, and Desert View Drive. The South Rim, 60 miles/97 km north of Williams and 80 miles/129 km northwest of Flagstaff, Arizona, is the most accessible part of the park and is open all year.
A much smaller number of people see the canyon from the North Rim, which lies just 10 miles/16 km (as the raven flies) directly across from the South Rim. The North Rim rises 1000 feet/305 m higher than the South Rim and is much less accessible. Heavy snows close the North Rim from mid-October to mid-May each year. Even in good weather the North Rim is harder to get to. It lies 220 miles/354 km by car from the South Rim, or 21 miles/34 km by foot across the canyon by way of the North and South Kaibab Trails.
The Inner Canyon includes everything below the rim and is seen mainly by hikers, mule riders, and river rafters. Many opportunities exist here for adventurous and hardy persons who want to backpack, ride a mule to Phantom Ranch, or take a river trip down the Colorado River with many of the popular Grand Canyon River Tours.
How do people get across the Colorado River within Grand Canyon? The South Kaibab Trail crosses the river on a narrow suspension bridge 70 feet/21 m above the water. Only one way across the canyon is accessible by automobile - the Navajo Bridge, located downstream from Lees Ferry, where the canyon is only 400 feet/122 m wide.
» top of page
Weather and Climate
The South Rim is 7000 feet above sea level, which means snow in winter and cool nights even in summer. Inner canyon hiking (below the rim) is another story, however: summer temperatures along the Colorado River at the canyon bottom can reach 120º F. The North Rim is 8000 feet above sea level and can receive snow throughout most of the year. Weather is particularly changeable in spring and fall; visitors should be prepared for a variety of climates.
The high altitude of both the South and North Rims may cause visitors with respiratory or heart problems to experience difficulties. All walking at this elevation can be strenuous.
SUMMER - Summer temperatures on the South Rim, at 7000 feet/2134 m, are relatively pleasant (50°s-80°s F/10°s-20°s C). But at 2400 feet/732 m, inner canyon temperatures are extreme. Daytime highs at the river often exceed 100° F/38° C. North Rim summer temperatures are cooler than those on the South Rim due to increased elevation. The North Rim is at 8000 feet/2438 m above sea level.
WINTER - Winter conditions at the South Rim can be extreme. Expect snow, icy roads and trails, and possible road closures. Canyon views may be temporarily obscured during winter storms. In such cases entrance fees are not refundable. The North Rim is closed during the winter.
SPRING & FALL - Spring and fall weather is extremely unpredictable. Be prepared for sudden changes in the weather at those times of year.

Traveling to Laos
The purpose of this website is to provide travelers with free information on tourism services in the Lao PDR in order to help generate income for local communities, support natural and cultural protected areas, and minimize negative impacts on Laos’ culture and environment.
A Note on Responsible Travel in Laos
As a traveler, you can assist with the sustainable development of the Lao PDR and can help alleviate poverty by supporting community-based tourism. Here are five things that you can do to help out while traveling in Lao PDR:
1. Eat Lao food – Purchasing fresh foods in the market and eating Lao dishes ensures that your money stays local and supports Lao farmers. When on a tour, request to eat in the village instead of taking food with you from town. This will provide villagers with income and you with an authentic Lao meal.
2. Purchase local crafts - Purchasing handicrafts in markets or villages directly supports local artisans and their traditional crafts.
3. Use local guides – Taking a village guide and/or a local guide from town will make your trip more enjoyable and will help employ local people. Inquire about packaged tours that include local guides, local food and local accommodation.
4. Stay overnight in villages – Staying overnight in a village as part of an organized tour provides a genuine experience with Lao culture and Lao people. Remember to compensate villagers for accommodation and for food and to visit villages with a local guide.
5. Visit National Protected Areas – Visiting national protected areas can help generate income and awareness to support the protection of threatened wildlife and forest ecosystems.
In addition, we recommend that you click on the Do’s and Don’ts to learn about what you cando to minimize negative impacts on Lao culture and the environment.

Traveling to the Philippines
The Philippines, a group of beautiful islands located in the South China Sea, is a favorite destination for tourists the world over because of its beautiful beaches, tropical climate, and warm friendly people. Another advantage of this paradise over other countries in Asia is the Filipino's good command of the English language. Thus, an English speaking foreigner will not lack someone to show him or her directions or simply engage in a friendly conversation.for more infomation go to the Plilippines Travel Guide website by clicking the title above.....

Traveling to Cuba
If you need to go to Cuba I have the website for yor her is part of this helpful artical about Cuba...
Traveling to Cuba can be one of those life transforming experiences. Here we present some practical information to help make that a reality. There are always two aspects of going to Cuba, the part having to do with the Cuban government, of course, and, especially in the case of the US, the part having to do with your country of residence.
For the Cuban government end, see Cuban Government sites in Cuba, Cuban Interests Section in Washington DC, and Cuban Law, Visas, & Security. If you are a Cuban American living in the US, see the very informative new site by the Cuban Interests Section in Washington, DC. You fall under a separate system than other Americans and must tend to those details.
For the US government end, see US Government.
If you are not subject to US law, skip this next section. If you are not a US national and a resident in the US, you are still subject to these restrictions.
For US Citizens or Residents - US Law
Tthese regulations have changed and will continue to change, see Changes in US Licensing Rules - 5/12/99 and especially the new State Department site up as of 10/99. Also, the number of people being fined for going down illegally is up, people are being sent fine letters without being "caught in the act," raising suspicions that Canada and Mexico turn over passenger manifests. This appears unlikely given the numbers, however. Of between 25,000 and 100,000 illegal visits in 2002, only some 600 received letters for fines.
Currently, in order to go down legally if you are a US citizen you need a Treasury license, which you obtain from OFAC, Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control. If you are Cuban-American or married to one, you can go down once every 3 years under a "general license" for humanitarian reasons (grave illness in the family, etc) and you only need to notify them via a form, but you do not need to get a license from them before leaving. If you are a "U.S. and foreign government official traveling on official business, including a representative of international organizations of which the U.S. is a member; or a journalist regularly employed by a news reporting organization," you also qualify for this "general license." Otherwise you need to get a license from OFAC to avoid being at risk for large fines ($3,000 to $10,000 typically!). Check out http://travel.state.gov/cuba.html and http://www.treas.gov/ofac/cubapage.html
A category which used to provide an out was to be fully hosted by a Cuban entity. The level of proof now required is high - you must have full documentation for every expense.
